Kimochi Kimchi

I just had this weird food craving combo. Now that I’m done eating, my tastebuds and stomach are singing, like an all-boys European choir in the Sydney Opera House.

My weird food craving combo was kimchi and McDonald’s Monster Coke Float.

Now I like Korean food but I’m not over the moon for it. I don’t choose to eat it more than three times a month, and I try to avoid kimchi made of cabbage for health reasons. I also drink soda seldomly for health reasons, and I just really prefer water and green tea over other drinks.

I tried to ignore my food craving for four hours before I finally succumbed and braved the pre-dawn drizzle to walk to the nearest McDonald’s and 24-hour Korean grocery.

It was the first time I tried the homemade kimchi from the grocery. Homemade, because it didn’t come in a sealed foil pack. It looked like the grocery owner made it, but it tasted better than restaurant kimchi. I was a bit torn between the homemade kimchi and what looked to be spinach kimchi, but it came in a sealed foil pack – obviously mass produced by a big company in South Korea. The first time that I tried kimchi in a foil pack it tasted bitter, starchy and a lot like beans and I was really disappointed. I don’t remember the brand name, but I never plan on buying kimchi in a foil pack so no worries.

In my estimation, the homemade kimchi is around two cups. I ate at least ¾ cup of it and the rest I stored in the fridge.

It was SO GOOD it was almost orgasmic.

I doubt I’ll have the same craving again, but who knows? It’s my fourth day eating cabbage kimchi.

Shit. Fourth? I didn’t even realize. Probably why I feel down in the dumps again. I gotta stop…OK, after I finish the remaining kimchi in the fridge. Food must not go to waste.

I think Gackt is to blame. I saw this vid of him with Tsuyoshi hanging out and eating kimchi from an earthenware jar. Yeah, I think so. I was mulling over the fact that they ate the kimchi straight from the jar. I was thinking if it was normal to do that, because wouldn’t it get contaminated by other bacteria? Granted that kimchi is a fermented type of food that grows its own good bacteria, but still.

I’m going to take a nap. My stomach is totally blissed out. Ciao!
